How To Download Free MP3's and Legally Safe

During my 2 week vacation in SoCal, I had the opportunity to see if my best friend's computer illiterate wife, Jen, could learn how to download mp3's using YouTube. It wasn't an easy task, but the fact that she learned gives me hope for others to learn too.

In a previous article I wrote about DVDVideosoft, which offers a program to convert the audio of any YouTube video into an MP3 format. This is a popular for two reasons. One, for the simple fact that you can get any of your favorite songs for free, and two, using YouTube as the source allows users the freedom from persecution unlike Limewire or bittorrents.

The program is easy to use and is also updated frequently by the creator. Below is a how-to on how to use the program after you have it installed.

1.] First, you have to find the music video on YouTube. Anything mainstream will easily been found doing a search for the artist and the song.

2.] Next, you'll have to copy the web address to the video after you click on the video you've chosen to convert to MP3. So highlight the web address as pictured above, select "copy" and then "paste" in the "INPUT" spot.

3.] *Important* - In the "OUTPUT" spot, you see the "C:\From_Internet_1.mp3. Unless you change the "~From_Internet_1~" to the name of the artist and song, it will always save it as that because it's a default setting. Remember to the name to the artist/song title so it will be easy to identify the file amongst the others in the folder. If you want to save it to another hard drive, you'll have to change the "C:\" to the hard drive you want to store it in. The best way to do that is to click "Browse" in the "OutPut" spot.

4.] Once you've pasted the web address and chose where to store the MP3, all you have to do is click on the "Download & Convert" button. It usually take around 1.5 minutes to download and extract the audio layer out of the YouTube video. Upload it to your MP3 player and enjoy listening to your new song.
